WARREN SAUNDERS SIGNATURE BAT

Framed Saints Cricket bat with an illustrated caricature of Warren Saunders O.A.M.
The plaque on the bottom reads:

Warren Saunders O.A.M.
1947-1972

This piece was specially commissioned by the St George District Cricket Club on the occasion of the opening of the Booth - Saunders Pavilion. It is placed beside a similar bat with a caricature of Brian Booth. 

Saunders arrived at the club in 1947 and played until 1972. He scored 10,400 in First Grade at an average of 42.3 with a highest score of 205. In First-class cricket Saunders scored 1,701 runs at an average of 32.71 with a highest score of 98.

Saunders would go on to become President of the St. George District Cricket Club from 1982-1992 and is a current co-patron of the club alongside Brian Booth.
