St. George District Cricket Club were premiers in 1939-1940. The Print by Harry Wann in 1940 has been signed by W.J. O'Reilly, E. Green, A. Steedman, E. Laidler, R. Lindwall, R. Moss, N. Fisher, N. Condon, A.R, Morris, R. Longbottom, C.P Winspear, H.P. Stapleton.

The 1939-40 Premiership was the clubs first 1st Grade premiership in its history. St George finished ahead of Petersham and topped the table by a record margin.

Finals cricket was not introduced until the 1951-52 season after St George dignitaries lobbied at the NSWCA table.
